Leon Kaye, Boston, Summer 2011

With over 20 years in communications and business development, Leon Kaye has emerged as a thought leader on making the business case for sustainability. After living and working in South Korea in the 1990s, Mr. Kaye moved back to his native California, where he led IT and sales training projects, sold business services to large corporations, and consulted companies on leveraging more sustainable business practices in order to reduce costs and improve their brand reputation. He has a presence in both Silicon Valley (San Jose) and San Joaquin Valley's Fresno. From 2013-2015, he lived and worked in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he served as a communications officer for Masdar, Abu Dhabi Renewable Energy Company. A graduate of Fresno State, he also graduated with an MBA from USC's Marshall School of Business, and also completed a Master's degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

His focus is on helping organizations communicate their sustainability initiatives, and leveraging the power of social media to amplify those messages.

    His personal inspiration is his maternal grandmother, Ovsanna, who lost her family during the 1915 Armenian Genocide; after years in Lebanon and Cuba, she moved to the USA in the 1930s and eventually to Fresno, California, where her grandson attended university. He's a loyal subscriber to The Atlantic Monthly, The Economist, and Foreign Policy magazines, which he reads voraciously. When he still has some free time, he enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and weightlifting--and he is also a loyal fan of the Oakland A’s.ll School of Business, and also completed a Master's degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
