He has a presence in both Silicon Valley (San Jose) and San Joaquin Valley's Fresno. A graduate of Fresno State, he also has an MBA from USC's Marshall School of Business, and also completed a Master's degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

His personal inspiration is his maternal grandmother, Ovsanna, who lost her family during the 1915 Armenian Genocide; after years in Lebanon and Cuba, she moved to the USA in the 1930s and eventually to Fresno, California, where her grandson attended university. He's a loyal subscriber to The Atlantic Monthly, The Economist, and Foreign Policy magazines, which he reads voraciously. When he still has some free time, he enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and weightlifting--and he is also a loyal fan of the Oakland A’s.
