Years ago, David Davis, who has lived in an apartment on Parkman and Silver Lake Boulevard for 19 years, wanted to do something with that huge swath of asphalt in front of his building. Today, his wish is almost complete.

Planting a Seed for Community Involvement

Apr 18, 2010 No Comments by

Parkman Triangle’s transformation continued with the planting of about 1/3 of its ground cover yesterday. Several volunteers showed up yesterday and planted lavender, Mexican feather grass, and blue fescue grass. We also received another delivery of boulders, which will make this 2000 square foot space look like more like southern California’s original landscape.

Parkman Triangle took shape this past Saturday; we had about 12 volunteers do some of the hardest work of the year.  They dug trenches and lay PVC pipe for the irrigation system, which was no small feat.  Add the fact that the dirt was still full of rocks and had been compacted, and this was [...]

Thanks to them and the other hard working volunteers who did everything [...]

I was up at 6:30 this morning to make sure the truck from C.D.G. could reach me as we were awaiting about 15 tons of decomposed granite.  I asked for an early morning delivery by 9:00 a.m., as Angelinos are a nasty bunch when they have to wait in their cards for an extra 120 [...]

Parkman Triangle Resumes Tomorrow: Volunteers Needed!

Mar 26, 2010 No Comments by

The process securing some trees was a little more complicated than necessary, but I finally got three jacarandas, which we will plant tomorrow at Parkman Triangle.  Early in the morning, we will also receive a truckload of decomposed granite, which we will use to fill the gaps in our little “urban lounge.”  Last week we [...]

Need a Marathon Break? The Triangle Dig Continues Sunday

Mar 19, 2010 No Comments by

It has been a great week for publicity surrounding Parkman Triangle.  We got some coverage in Curbed LA!  Some folks were not happy with the tone, but any coverage is better than no news, right?  Many comments were also posted expressing enthusiasm for the project.   Digging will continue on Sunday.  We need to move [...]
