Anyone out there who has overdosed on social media will identify with Kiosk’s latest video, “Love and Death in the Time of Facebook.” Have you been added by that guy from high school you either could not stand or constantly picked on you? Been poked, poked, and poked again? This song is for you.
Kiosk will release its new album, Triple Distilled, will release on October 8. If you are lucky enough to live in Canada or Europe, you will be able to see the band on tour.
Ah, pomegranates. One of the oldest fruits on earth, with countless legends attributed to this lucious, complicated fruit. I would like to show another video by the Persian band Kiosk. Yarom Bia is set to the Armenian film director Sergey Parajanov’s Color of Pomegrantes.
This band is hardly new—they have created buzz among the Persian disaspora and music afficianodos since they were founded in a Tehran basement in 2003. The buzz is pretty strong in Iran, too, apparently. Just don’t let the wrong person hear you play Kiosk’s tunes.
Unless you’re completely apathetic, it’s painful to see what’s going on in Iran. What was once one of the world’s most powerful and important powers is now a tragedy.
