Making Choices: Having the Courage to Make a Career Change

Many of us want to make a huge change in the world around us, but finding out exactly how is an enormous challenge.  Nevertheless, if you want to make a difference while making a living at your life’s calling, such a career transition is not impossible.  It takes perseverance, a lot of networking, becoming a resource to others, and in my opinion, courage.

Susan McPherson had been at her company for 15 years.  A confluence of life events eventually convinced her to follow her heart.  Now she is a senior vice president at Fenton, the leading public interest communications firm:

For years, I had been an accomplished sales, business development and marketing professional.  When not working, I poured myself into various causes (women's advancement and leadership, entrepreneurship, environmental outreach) as well as always being a go-to person for those looking for new jobs, introductions, nonprofits to support, and, even potential life partners and spouses ;)  There was absolutely no reason I couldn't grasp what my future COULD be.

Read the rest of her article here.  You can find that balance and reward both emotionally and financially--just be willing to give much more than get, and make your passion known.  Like the picture of midtown Manhattan shows, there are many clouds ahead while making that career change, but search and seek enough and you will find that rainbow.
