In One Picture: Desalination Results in a Dubai Winter

Shopping malls in Dubai are certainly entertaining, and the Mall of the Emirates is no exception. A coffee meeting I had scheduled there last night was an excuse for my hosts to do some shopping, and with the Dubai Shopping Festival 2012 in full swing, this massive temple of brands was packed!

The showcase, of course, is Ski Dubai, the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East. Dubai skiing may not have been on your itinerary, but who could resist the urge to bundle up and check out the ice sculptures, ski lift and fluffy snow? Whatever you think about desalination, you have to admit that the results in the United Arab Emirates are certainly impressive.
