Planting a Seed for Community Involvement

Parkman Triangle’s transformation continued with the planting of about 1/3 of its ground cover yesterday. Several volunteers showed up yesterday and planted lavender, Mexican feather grass, and blue fescue grass. We also received another delivery of boulders, which will make this 2000 square foot space look like more like southern California’s original landscape.

What’s rewarding about working on this project is seeing the possibility of what else can be done around the Silver Lake neighborhood. This area, which has reinvented itself several times over the past 100 years, is full of residents who are enthusiastic and want to see more done to reduce the effects of years of city planning that did a great job of turning Los Angeles into a concrete jungle.

There are still a few more volunteer weekends left, including Sunday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please come by!
