Latest on Guardian: Logistics Firms Become E-waste Managers

My latest article on Guardian Sustainable Business covers the role companies like UPS, FedEx, and DHL are taking on their customers’ electronic waste (e-waste) burden.  Long integrated into their companies’ supply chain operations, these firms also have taken on in important role in the waste diversion of toxic materials.

All three companies have had important roles, though my article covers the work of UPS with the most depth.  David Guernsey, senior sustainability program manager of UPS, provides a detailed overview of what his company has achieved in the past decade, including its work with Toshiba.  Meanwhile FedEx has hauled in tons of e-waste, and DHL’s CSR program has increased e-waste recycling in the United Kingdom.
