My kind of town is Chicago, and it is my recommended first stop in the United States to visit if it is your inaugural travel to the U.S.ofA. Chicago is a big snapshot of the USA for several reasons: friendly people; great theater, art, and food; proud birthplace of several schools of American architecture; and its stunning setting on Lake Michigan.
I am currently in Chicago for Enablon, covering its North American Users' Forum for a couple days. Enablon is a leading provider of sustainable performance management solutions, and I will write case studies and conduct interviews in documenting this two day conference.
Companies like Enablon are important because of their role in monitoring our impact on the planet and its people. Many large corporations and organizations are genuinely interested in doing what they can to achieve lower carbon emissions, meet compliance and disclosure requirements, and ensuring that workers in their supply chain are treated fairly.
And those tasks are not easy. Many activists will hold grudges against companies' perched in their crosshairs for various reasons—but the fact is that a company's greatest impact on the social and environmental issues is in their supply chain. Therefore, firms like Enablon have a critical role, allowing its customers to measure its performance across the board, whether it is the monitoring of their EHS (environmental, health, and safety) compliance, or gauging its CO2 emissions. Enablon's software platforms allow for more accurate and seamless reporting, allowing its clients to stay compliant, assess progress towards its goals, and ascertain where any weak points may lie.
Enablon supports more than 200,000 users and has over 250 leading global companies amongst its clientele. Based outside of Paris, France, the company's North American operations is located in Chicago.
It has been a pleasure working with Enablon's PR and marketing group, and is a relationship I hope to continue.
