Duke Energy Launches Fifth Texas Wind Farm

Wind power shows no indication of slowing down in Texas.  Duke Energy will plan its fifth wind farm in the Lone Star State, which should be in operation by the end of 2012.  According to Zacks Investment Research:

The Los Vientos II wind farm comprises the second phase of a 402-MW-total project announced in August 2011. Duke Energy had then announced plans to build the 200-MW Los Vientos I Windpower Project in Willacy County. The electricity generated from the project will be sold to CPS Energy. The company expects to begin construction of the farm in the fourth quarter of 2011 with commercial operation in December 2012.

Despite reports that the wind energy market is slowing down in the U.S., investment like those of Duke Energy’s appear to demonstrate otherwise.  Clean energy will continue to grow in an era of climate volatility and unsettling oil prices.
