Dole’s New CSR Portal Goes Bananas for Sustainability

Dole is one of the world’s most recognized food brands; its food products include everything from salad mixes, the cheap bananas, pineapple with a crown or in a can, and of course, that retro treat fruit cocktail.

Last week I wrote in Triple Pundit about the company’s new corporate social responsibility (CSR) portal.  The site offers information about how Dole is approaching issues like carbon, water, and packaging.  But I also argue that in an era where stakeholders, investors, and advocates are more discerning about the companies in which they invest, Dole’s site is PR-heavy, static, and some would even say stale.  At a time when companies are using social media to communicate even more with their stakeholders, the launch of Dole’s CSR hub will across to some as rather ho-hum.
