DC Falls for Sweet Bite Creamery’s Autumn Flavors

Three months ago we heralded the launch of Sweet Bite Creamery, which melds homemade ice cream with home-baked cookies, all made from locally sourced or organic ingredients.  Their pairings may be cold, but their ice cream sandwiches are hot, developing a local following throughout the DC area’s farmers markets.

Now that it’s fall, Sweet Bite will not hibernate anytime soon.  In fact, they have come out with a line of fall flavors.  Creamy pumpkin custard ice cream, made from sugar pumpkins purchased from other farmers’ market vendors, await you between chewy molasses cookies.  Sweet potato marshmallow is a favorite, evoking sweet potato pie from the Old South; baked apple snicker doodles would go well with warm spiced cider, a hot-cold sensation anyone should enjoy.  There is still time order before Thanksgiving!

Sweet Bite is what food can be about: creative, local, enjoyable, and innovative.  Best of all it’s dessert--how could you resist?  Watch Tricia Widgen, one of the company’s founders, explain their approach here:
